This is an exciting opportunity for a caring, conscientious Support Worker, who is passionate about working with and supporting children in care and care leavers based in our semi-independent provision based in the Hoyland area of Barnsley. This service offers 5 individuals an opportunity to thrive in their provision.

 

The service offers our young people a place where life skills are taught and activities are prioritised in order to build solid relationships and well rounded and equipped young adults to ensure the success of their first steps in to the world as adults.

 

Duties include:

  • Work to create, review, follow and implement service user’s care plans to enable them to achieve positive outcomes as agreed with their designated home manager.

  • Be a positive role model, nurture and care for all people in the home.

  • Be an allocated keyworker for specific service users.

  • Promote health and development as appropriate to the needs of the individual

  • Maintain a positive and informed response to service users and their behaviour.

  • Provide and participate in leisure activities in line with care plans.

  • Support service users with education placements and work experience where necessary.

  • Promote a positive culture within the home and a homely environment

  • Maintain structure and boundaries within the home.

  • Be responsible for service users and yourself

  • Always ensure the appropriate staff to service user ratio

  • Work in accordance with the Quality Standards and co-operate with any inspection process.

  • Undertake daily observations and key working sessions and record it in a timely way.

What we need from you:

  • Resilient, self-motivated people who are able to implement a robust and thorough independence programme and build relationships with young people. You will need to be able to maintain accurate and detailed records of observations

  • Ideally have Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce Diploma or equivalent however this can be discussed at the point of your expression of interest

  • 2 years’ experience of working with children/young adults/adults, or the ability to demonstrate transferable skills, knowledge and experience

  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts including weekends e.g. 08:00–18:00, 10:00–20:00 and sleep-in shifts
